Tourists admire rare plants in XTBG in late spring.

Visitors are amazed at the beauty of different plants these days, when they step into the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) of Chinese Academy of Sciences. The garden in south Yunnan was founded in 1959 by Cai Xitao, a well-known Chinese botanist.

Serving in scientific research, species conservation and popular science education, the XTBG covers an area of about 1,125 hectares, collecting more than 13,000 species of living plants. It is the largest botanical garden in China.

It has been granted "a national base popularizing science on environmental protection", "a national base for education and scientific popularization", "a national 5A tourist destination" and other titles as of March, 2024.
