Over 2 hectare of edible roses bloom for feast in YNU

Yunnan University (YNU) recently has more than 30 acres (about 2 ha) of edible roses in full bloom. The sweet and fresh fragrance permeates the air. In the canteen, delicacies such as iced jelly, fermented glutinous rice with egg drop, rice balls, fried eggs, and pineapple rice are all made from edible roses. This is an exclusive feast at YNU.

YNU has been cultivating edible Yunnan red roses, Damask roses, and more than ten varieties of ornamental roses since 2015. Roses not only beautify the campus but also provide raw materials for various rose dishes, creating a rose feast for students and many visitors.
